Patterned Imprinted Concrete
Patterned imprinted concrete can be a very innovative skill. It adds colour and patterns to freshly poured concrete. This gives concrete the appearance of natural materials like stone, slate, and timber. This eliminates the associated high costs of natural products.
Minimal Maintenance
Patterned concrete is a unique product that needs minimal maintenance. It performs better than other products, such as flagstones and tarmac, block paving and tarmac. There are many issues that can be fixed by having a dolomite foundation and four inches of fibre reinforced cement. Alternative products can solve these problems, including sinking, weeds, and moss. With wooden decked patios, block paving is possible. Wood rot and pest management are also issues.

What is Pattern Imprinted Concrete?
Simply put, pattern concrete (also known by stamped concrete) involves pouring concrete over a subbase, then applying a colour followed by a hardener. This is a new way to make concrete, unlike traditional concreting which used blocks to make your finish.
The pattern is applied once the concrete has cooled. You can choose from many different prints, such as brickwork or textured stone. The most popular choice for domestic properties is pattern concrete. This is especially useful when lining driveways.
Good quality print
It is important to assess the quality of the printed concrete. To properly lay fresh concrete, you need to take extreme care, be patient, and dedicate your time. If the concrete forms inconsistently, it can lead to a weak floor.
Most contractors will use 6-8 rigid printing matsa and 1 flexible mat in a single set. The driveway’s narrowest section will require six mats. However, the flexible mats can be used to print and access areas that the rigid mats won’t.
Most printing mats will measure 600 x 600 mm. However, there are many options for matt sizes. You just need to decide how large you want them to be and then search the best prices.
Colour Consistency
To ensure that your flooring is the right colour, you need to be aware of how imprinted concrete will look. The main components of patterned concrete are colour surface hardener as well as antique release agents.
It will cause a poor finish if the colour surface binder isn’t applied correctly or isn’t used enough. This is especially evident in commercial jobs larger than retail shop flooring.
Large commercial jobs may require several concrete deliveries. This can result in slight colour variation in each concrete mixture. The surface hardener matches all the colours together once they are applied. This is especially useful for larger jobs that may take several days.
Ensuring Long-Term Durability
It is crucial that the concrete floor above will last for many years by ensuring durability with the sub-stone base.
Additionally, the concrete mix used plays a significant role in ensuring the structural integrity is maintained for years to follow.
This is particularly important for high-traffic areas such as driveways, multistorey car parks, and warehouses that operate machinery every day.
Reduce the Chance of the Concrete Cracking
Concrete patterned for driveways must contain at least 300kgs per cubic metre.
You will need to use 350-380kgs for cold weather.
An air entertaining additive can also be added to enhance the floor’s durability and resistance from cracking caused by heavy traffic and weather.
Reducing Maintenance & Maximising Results
It will enhance the appearance of patterned concrete by applying a solvent-based acrylic paint once it has dried. Water-based acrylics will cause more problems, so be careful with these for patterned concrete.
For a beautiful appearance, sealant should be applied every four to five years.
It isn’t mandatory but it will help keep your driveway, or wherever we have patterned concrete installed, looking amazing for many years.
